Le Train Rouge
Departure from Axat (Aude department) (415 m) in the open carriage.
The train carried around the village by the railroad shaped horseshoe, through three tunnels, and allows to enjoy the coolness of the forest in Malo; He crossed the Col Campérié (510m) and down on Lapradelle where a stop is marked on the viaduct below the castle of Puilaurens, royal fortress in the XIII century Cathar country. The train ride continues through Caudiès de Fenouillèdes with the first vineyards in Pyrénées-Orientales, and to St. Paul de Fenouillet.
A stopover is marked, allowing the driver to return the locomotive head switches. Passengers can follow the progress of the operation.
Back to Axat, marking off the impressive viaduct Crémade and
on the big viaduct Axat. Depending on the route, the train will make you also discover the "Gorges de l'Aude" following the river viaducts and through tunnels centenary, to the end, just before the old station of Saint Martin Lys.
